The market has a long history, dating back to 1923 when it was owned by J.Biggs.

In 1988 the market was bought by Blackheath (Midlands) Trading Ltd "who" have owned the Blackheath Market since 1978. Over the last two decades the stallholders have worked together to acheive the thriving market that is the centre of Cradley Heaths'' retail trade.
